This workshop by an awarded artist Tanja Lažetić conceives artist’s books as truly "..special books. They do not deal with fiction or theory, nor do they discuss art in the way a catalogue or a monograph does. An artist's book is a work of art in itself. At the workshop we will learn how to make an artist’s book. The participants will be invited to create a book by ourselves, by using only one image, one photo or one drawing. The workshop will be a study about the possibilities for making the artist’s book. The participants will also learn about the form of the book. Because the artist’s book is not only a book, but an alternative exhibition space." (Tanja Lažetić)
Students from different art schools shall individually develop a concept for their own artist’s books and build, produce the books themselves. Course credit value: 4 ECTS ("STUDIO" module, MAP program, year 1 and 2; open for BA students year 2 and 3).

We are living in the world of extremely fast developing technology, especially in the field of science. Daily commes diverse news of the possibilities to look deeper into the micro cosmos of our environment. Our body is becoming an experimental realm, our mind and soul examined to the smallest particles. To these developments, artists can reflect with their ethical and emotional positions, give diverse perspectives and set some questions through their creative and intuitive capabilities.
The workshop will give students possibilities to examine diverse artistic achievements on international level and develop their own concepts and ideas, either in the output format of written scenarios, or producing short video works (sketches). The workshop includes a visit to the scientific Departments at the University of Rijeka, talking to scientists and getting introduced to the newest technologies of bio- and other sciences.
There will be also possibilities for students' production of photo and video documentation at one of the Academy's post-production studios. At the end of the ocurse, students will finish their works at home institutions and present the final version of their experimental research online, at local semester shows etc. Credit value of the course is 3 or 4 ECTS, depending on the MAP study programme context, or the student's individual local curriculum context.
